Launching of the Umatilla Reef lightship at Steffens yard

In Portland on May 11 a large crowd witnessed the successful launching of the Umatilla Reef lightship No. 67 from Steffens' yard at 2:50 PM. Wolff & Zwicker built the vessel and spectators cheered as the ship slid into the river without a hitch. About 5,000 people saw the event with ample celebration and waving handkerchiefs.
