Bryan election law repealed amid constitutional questions
Guthrie Oklahoma March 29 opinions from the attorney general’s office hold several measures from the recent special legislative session and Governor Haskell’s approval as unconstitutional. The Bryan election law repealing the Taylor law may stand if the old law would take effect at the polls despite repeal efforts. Other actions deemed unconstitutional include a school land sale bill near Oklahoma City and nearby tracts for educational and park use, a death penalty bill for criminal assault missing an enacting clause, a transfer of pulpits and funds between districts, and limits on bonded indebtedness. Governor Haskell signed the Bryan measure, relief bills for the school land department, a grandfather clause resolution, maintenance funds for Chickasha Girls School, and a re enacted territorial election challenges law.
