General Cornelius Clarkson Watts died at 6:15 P.M. at his residence Breemmont on Watte hill West Charleston. Born 1844 in Amherst Virginia, he served in the Confederate army with Mosby, became a lawyer and state senator, and built the Cael river railroad. He was known for a tree-topping threshing record and later engaged in law and public service. He attended to business until about 12 years ago and was a member of the Methodist church and Masons.
Patrolman Fred Thompson, praised for humor, was chauffeured to work by famed aviator Charles A Lindbergh. Thompson, en route to the station, signaled a passing autoist and joined the wheel, only realizing too late the driver was Lindbergh himself driving from Engiewood to Wright Aces plant in Paterson.
