BECKLEY May 17 Following hearing today Kent Fleming was held without bond to await grand jury action in the slaying of Ben Mom whose body was found near Wickham with a necktie knot and head crushed by a rock. Fleming was arrested in Evansville Indiana and returned. State police reported Mount Olive Kentucky authorities arrested a man named Campbell who might be Walter Campbell connected to the Moss death. Prosecuting attorney W B McGinn Jr and state police left for Mount Olive. Fleming and Campbell had been seen near the body site.
The St Albans plant and two related facilities owned by Bonesler and Hasslacher are transferred to DuPont de Nemours. A deed and assignment were filed in Kanawha County. DuPont officials say they are unaware of the plan for the absorbed properties but expect possible operation of the plant within the Kenawha valley.
Road project bids for nine highway sections and a bridge will be opened by the state road commission on June 17. The total length is 45.8 miles with an estimated cost of 750,000. Projects include routes in Randolph County and others on route No. 5 and No. 3, plus grading and draining on route No. 51 between Wheeling and Elm Grove.
A dynamite explosion at a road construction site near a rock quarry in Virginia killed six people. Victims include O. Johnson, G. Mille, P. Shires, Uprank Welkie Jr., and the Welkie children aged 13, 11, and 9. A coroner’s jury found death by unknown causes with the shed wrecked and two workers nearby unharmed. The accident occurred at a one story blacksmith shed used by the subcontractor A. B. Terry of Toanoke on the Saneca Trail project.

Upshur county prosecutor A. Jerome Daley said Ligud Sines confessed to killing his relative and brother in law of E. D. Sines. The body was found in a hollow near Goshen. Sines, 45, claimed jealousy over attention paid to Mrs. Lloyd Sines and planned the act after learning E. C. Sines would pass by the next day.
