Government Relaxes Wine And Whisky Prescription Rules

Washington dispatch reports that federal restrictions on wine and whisky prescriptions will be relaxed starting tomorrow. Congress ordered the loosened regulations after negotiating a 3.2 percent tax. Body Found in Kenawhe River at Sattey

A large man’s body was recovered yesterday from the Kenawhe river at Sattey by a boy. Coroner W. F. Work and Deputy Sheriff Howard Cunningham led the quick probe. The body was taken to Long and Johnson mortuary for an inquiry to be held today. Identification is expected to be difficult due to the time in water.

Woman Held in Death Of Her Step-father

FAIRMONT May 14. Beatrice E Bryant 24 is jailed after allegedly fatally shooting her stepfather Dennis Awill 54 during a quarrel in Monongah early today. Awill was shot four times in the back after an argument about the noise he made while building a fire and died. Police say Bryant claimed she shot because Awill abused her.

West Virginia Coal Output Surges Over Week

United States Bureau of Mines reports West Virginia bituminous coal production for the week ended April 29 at 1,948,000 tons, up from 1,241,000, with Northern region producing 293,000 and Southern region 1,055,000 tons. Maryland output reached 24,000 tons, up from 22,000.

Hotel Guest Rescues Boy From Kanawha River Levee

Ridney Robinson of Kanawha Street fell into the Kanawha River near the levee. E J Stackhouse a hotel guest and boat house tender helped tow the youth to safety before an ambulance transported him to St Francie Hospital where he was pronounced out of danger within half an hour.
