West Virginia senator Goff replies to Harry C. Woodyard’s claims by denouncing him as a poor sportsman and questioning the reliability of his recollections. Goff defends his Indiana ally James E. Watson and cites Woodyard’s opposition to Hoover, insisting Woodyard’s attack on his integrity disqualifies him as a statesman.
The document cites a testifying panel praising Mr Woodyard but contains no direct justification. It notes references to matters Senator Watson preferred not to publicize and ends with the speaker declining to comment. The June 7 Woodyard reply is mentioned alongside a Conscience testimony and a Jimaist letter.
Six Democrats and one Republican filed reports with the Secretary of State detailing receipts and spending for their primary campaigns. Notable amounts show Coulft of Wheeling spending 669.20 with no receipts, while Edward Smith of Chelyan reported spending 4209.30 after no receipts, and John Kee of Bluefield spent 816.50 without receipts.
Six of 12 arrests reported yesterday by the state prohibition department occurred in Kanawha county. Lee Boyd of Dickinson was fined 100 and jailed for 30 days for liquor possession. Columbia Cozad of Charleston paid 100 and 30 days in jail for mayor charges. John McCade and Luther Grier faced 100 fines and 80 days for hauling a 10 gallon still. Varied home brew cases resulted in hearings or searches with no arrests in some instances. Police and federal agents conducted the operations.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hanshaw entertained the Pollyanna club Thursday evening at their Crescent Road home.
