Atlantic Co Gets Gasser In West Virginia Field

One of the largest gas wells in West Virginia was completed by Atlantic Public Utilities Corp in Putnam County about 20 miles west of Charleston. The field shows strong activity with several large wells and prospect expansion reported. Samuel O'Regan and Charles Cohen are the local representatives for the company under National Distribution Holding Corp.

Auto Victim Winners Increase Judgment in Circuit Court

A jury awarded E N Cullums of Athens larger damages for injuries from an automobile accident than the prior day’s big verdict. The case against Mrs Peter Bettinger of Charleston stems from a Capitol Street sidewalk collision on November 24, 1997, when the Bettinger car struck him as he walked past McGibbons Deming drygoods. Trial concluded with the verdict yesterday afternoon. The earlier case awarded Josephine Eldridge $11,000 against Central Glass Company.
