Supreme Court rejects bid to re route Gilmer county road
The West Virginia Supreme Court on a recent session denied the Gilmer County Road Commission authority to condemn coal property owned by R A Darnall and Charles W Knight for a one mile reroute of a road near Gilmer Station. The case centered on alleged prejudice by former Road Commissioner Ernest L Bailey toward Knight and Darnall. Assistant Attorney General Kenneth E Hines argued the route would remove two railroad crossings and provide improvements with no personal consideration involved.
