U S Senator Overman of North Carolina died suddenly in Washington at 12 30 tonight aged 76. He had suffered indigestion last week and a severe hemorrhage of the stomach after a blood transfusion was conscious during the evening. Surviving are his widow and three sons in law Snow of Washington Mrs Overman and Mrs Boon were with him. Overman born January 3 1854 was a Trinity College graduate and had served in the North Carolina House of Delegates and the U S Senate since 1895 with a term to end in 1933. He was a trustee of the University of North Carolina and Trinity College.
Washington December 11 The government studies how to deport some of the nation s most notorious gangsters including William Doak labor secretary who says large cities list public enemies may be sent outbound. Doak outlines continued efforts to curb immigration and share figures with Congress.
