Union Official Bribe Taker Allegations Surface in Hoffa Probe

Senate investigators heard Arthur Morgan of Minneapolis testify that a Minneapolis Teamsters local reinstated a jailed bribe taker, Ger ald Connelly, who ran the local from prison. The hearing, part of the Hoffa probe, also covered a Teamster loan to Benjamin Dranow's Minneapolis department store and Hoffa's horse race betting partnership with Owen Brennan. Hoffa, campaigning in Miami Beach, defended pension fund investments and challenged the committee on his union credentials.

Erie Completes Dam Project For Five Million Gallon Reservoir

Erie plans a five foot high dam across the Neosho River to create a 100 million gallon reservoir. Construction resumes after weekend rains. cost seven thousand dollars funded from municipal water profits with no bonds. Dam extends 220 feet, five feet thick bottom, 16 inches top, backed five miles. Completion expected within three weeks after waters recede.

Minor Injuries in Two Separate Local Traffic Collisions

A noon collision near Senior High School injured two people including Diana Vaughn with head and leg bruises and Darrel Stripp with a head bump. Stipp was cited for reckless driving and a hearing is set. Separately, two cars at 12th and Highland and another at Sixth and Garfield sustained bumper and fender damage. Twin City Bank Robbed. Suspects Linked to 1912 Heist

The Twin City State Bank was robbed today. Detectives say the robbers resembled two men sought in a prior August 20 heist that involved $12 100. Two 15 Year Old Boys Admit Damage to Car

Two 15 year old schoolboys admitted pilfering and damaging the William P. Lowry car last week. Damage was estimated at 250 dollars. The Lowrys were away from home and the car was left in the garage. Disposition of the case has not been decided.

Blast at Pusan school kills four children in garbage explosion

Police say explosives hidden in garbage at a Pusan primary school detonated today. Four children were killed and 12 injured as students burned the refuse. Investigators offered no explanation of how the devices were placed.
