The Chanute school system adopts a policy granting left hand pitch students and all elementary pupils free admission to football and basketball games with non transferable school tickets. Officials expect no revenue loss and possibly higher attendance. A prank water test claim ends with 47.5 percent moisture.
A 43 year old Kansas City woman, Lena Carrico, was shot by an ambulance driver who mistook her for a drunken driver. She sustained shotgun pellet injuries to the left arm, side, and right leg and was listed in fair condition. The incident began when Fred McDaniels pursued a car after it narrowly hit his ambulance, struck four parked cars, and fled with bystanders helping. Edward Greer, 32, was jailed on drunken and careless driving charges plus leaving the scene, destroying private property and driving without a license.
A triple threat storm swept across New England last night bringing wind up to 80 mph in Boston and 73 mph in Rhode Island. Hail described as acorns fell in Maine as power outages and phone service outages spread from Massachusetts to Rhode Island and Maine. A hospital ceiling was ripped from a new building in Augusta, Maine, but no injuries were reported.
Gov Fred Hall reported his failed bid for renomination in the August primary cost him 1269.52 dollars. He cited travel and subsistence as the major expenses in his formal statement.

Henry North Henry Bremmer and Dale Strack led three hired men and local volunteers in a day of joint work to speed construction while Mrs. Hayworth and her mother provided a picnic dinner for the laborers.
Forecaster Jim Hosey predicts a warm front will raise temperatures statewide with highs in the 90s Sunday and lows in the 50s to 75 tonight. A cool air surge is due to move in Monday, bringing cooler conditions with little precipitation and limited moisture reported in northern areas.
