Mayor Dr Reuben J Burkman placed the crown and gave Ortiz a bouquet of red roses. Ortiz gave the roses to her aunt Mrs Alfred Serrato to honor her husband an active fiesta worker absent due to illness. The fiesta princess Luci Negrete Parsons was crowned by Henry Watkins Eric a former state representative from Neosho County.
