A trailer truck carrying 3,000 gallons of sulphuric acid missed a turn south of Durango Colorado and crashed through a bridge railing dumping the contents into the Animas River. The driver was uninjured and downstream towns were alerted while Farmington New Mexico closed reservoir inlets and Aztec halted irrigation diversions.
