Three Car Crash Kills Humboldt Man near Chanute
A 79 year old Humboldt resident, Leslie S Lehman, died in a three car collision on US 169 three miles north of Chanute. James A Baker and Virginia Baker of Chanute were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries while Howard L Nelson of Iola sustained leg and head injuries. The wreck on a bridge near the Neosho River closed the road for about an hour. Lehman was ejected from his 1961 Falcon and died at the scene. The Bakers were treated and released. Funeral details were not yet available.

Arthur G Magoon's Montpelier garden yields three foot tall lettuces and ten pound beets after five truckloads of fill from a city site were added last May.
