Ron Klingenberg and two Chanute officers drove to Illinois to testify in a burglary case involving John Edwards Jr and Robert Edwards. City Opens Diesel Power Plant for Public Open House

City Manager R. J. Hayes announces an open house at the diesel power plant on October 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1515 N. Garfield, with hourly remote control demonstrations from the two 2,000 kW units. Coffee and doughnuts will be served and door prizes given. Fire damages Fraser residence on Central Avenue

Fire of undetermined origin caused extensive damage yesterday to the James M. Fraser home at 1706 Central. Fire chief C W Brennan said the blaze started along the eaves of a porch and burned through the roof into the attic, leaving a hole in the roof and damaged rafters ceiling and walls. No wiring near the start and investigators suspect a bird dropping a cigarette into nesting material. Alarm sounded at 3 10 p m and crews returned to quarters at 4 25 p m.
