Air Force Band Delights Chanute Audience In Two Hour Concert
The Air Force band gave a superb performance in the Memorial building before a small but appreciative crowd. Encores matched the first selections as the trumpet trio and Singing Sergeants, with James Wheeler and others, drew strong applause. Wheeler sang Red River Valley and St Louis Blues among others, as the group presented marches including Colonel Bogey Stars and Stripes Forever. About 1,500 students attended the matinee, with eight student bandsmen joining for Stars and Stripes Forever. The ensemble is in week four of a six week tour, touring Texas Arizona Colorado Kansas Missouri and Oklahoma with two shows daily, after performing in Springfield Missouri and heading to Topeka and Wichita.
