Linda Park of Chanute finished fourth among 12 contestants in the American Royal queen judging in Kansas City last weekend. She and chaperone Mrs. Fred Harris returned after a three day whirl of events that included luncheons, interviews, a judging session, a coronation ball, and fittings for gowns for the top three contestants. The Chanute JayCees organized telegrams and flowers for Linda, whose parents attended the Coronation Ball and festivities at the Kansas City Club.

Refinery Blast Rocks Oklahoma Plant in Cyril
An explosion and fire damaged the Anderson Prichard Oil Co refinery near Cyril Oklahoma Monday night. Fire crews from Anadarko Lawton Ft Sill and Porter Hill controlled the blaze before midnight. No injuries reported and workers were safely evacuated as flames rose near the catalytic cracking unit. the plant has 12 500 barrels per day capacity and about 200 employees.

State penitentiary sources say Ted Dudley of Kansas City will apply for parole on November 17. Dudley pleaded guilty to second degree burglary and grand larceny for a Ramsey liquor store break in at 1421 South Santa Fe on September 30, 1955, with $1000 in merchandise taken. He received concurrent sentences of 5 to 10 years for burglary and 1 to 5 years for larceny.
