Airborne spiders may have caused white fluffy material resembling spider webs over large areas of Missouri and Illinois. Donald Pecsok of St Louis County Air Pollution Control Division confirmed a St Louis laboratory identified the filaments as spider webs. A St Louis University entomologist spoke of the balloon spider that spins a windborne web.
