Several hundred buyers and spectators attended a buffalo auction in Missoula Montana. The 78 head sold for 25640 dollars with 40 cows at 419 each 25 calves at 273 and 13 bulls at 389. Most buffalo to slaughter, some bought by ranch operators nationwide.
Lansing Kansas AP reports a 13th escape in ten days from the Kansas State Prison at Lansing. 28 year old Donald D Keeslar of Lammed walked away from a prison honor farm Monday night while serving on four counts of criminal assault. Three other escapees from Monday morning remain at large: George Foerschler 44 a first degree murder convict. Ronald Pitchford 21 held for illegal possession of firearms. Norman Scott 30 serving 10 to 20 years for burglary and grand larceny.
About 3,000 officers gathered at Centre Paul Sauve in a protest over a wage dispute with Montreal. Normal services were unavailable as the police association rejected an arbitration board's ruling proposing a 1100 dollar two year increase versus the 1900 dollars sought.
The body of Rev. Lionell Asbach 53 a former Kansas priest and rector of San Antonio Church Rio Piedras Puerto Rico was recovered off Punta las Marias Santurce after a sailboat capsized in rough waters. He had served in Puerto Rico for nearly three decades and lived on the island 26 years.
The Board tabled a formal suspension and expulsion policy for study while current guidelines will guide administrators. Superintendent Buford Fisher outlined a policy: no expulsion before a third suspension, notice by registered mail, conferences with principals, and limited suspensions up to 10 days. Expulsion requires a superintendent recommendation and board hearing within ten days, with a three day board decision, and hearings scheduled promptly to protect rights amid recent court rulings.
Michael Denis Rohan testified in Jerusalem that he set fire to the Al Aksa Mosque on August 21 and pleaded mental illness in his defense.
