Oil Field Blowout Fatal in Wyoming
In Lovell Wyoming an oil well blowout claimed two workers from Powell when pump rods were being serviced. The site filled with oil and toxic hydrogen sulfide gas and both men died after falling into a pool of oil. Two rescuers were overcome but saved by colleagues.

Driver Osburn Arrested for DWI and License Suspended

The Stubblefield twins Jeanett Kim and Dennett Linn were successfully separated at the University of Oregon Medical School Hospital in Portland. The five hour procedure involved 17 doctors and left the infants in a critical 24 to 48 hour post operative period. doctors noted a shared breastplate and a liver bridge as anticipated. Wound Fatal In Metz Man Dies After Kansas City Shooting
A Metz, Missouri truck driver who killed his wife and wounded another person last weekend died yesterday at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Police had said the man opened fire during a domestic incident before fleeing.

Welfare Group Elects Deay Advise for Neosho County
C A Deay of Chanute was elected chairman of the advisory committee to the Neosho County Welfare Board for the coming year at a dinner meeting held at the Tioga Hotel. R C Buchanan of St Paul was named vice chairman and Mrs Nelle Stevens, rural Chanute, secretary treasurer. County Commissioner D C Diver reported on the home for the dependent children program and steel for the project. Mrs Adeline Fortney outlined the program aims to aid dependent children and preserve the family bond. There were 57 dependent children cases in the county involving 215 persons last month, with many due to desertion or illness of the father. The group discussed future plans, including possible Senior Citizens activity.

Singing Sergeants to Perform Here Oct 16
Jim Wheeler, nephew of Mrs. C. N. McQuin of 1224 Edith, serves as a tenor soloist with the U S Air Force Singing Sergeants and will appear in Chanute concerts Oct 16. El Dorado Trooper Dies While Delivering Plasma
Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Jacobs was killed on U S 54 near El Dorado while delivering blood plasma to a patient in Eureka. The crash occurred after he overtook a grain truck and struck a tractor trailer. Herschel Buxton, 32, of El Dorado, pleaded innocent to negligent homicide in the collision and was released on $1,000 bond.
