Humboldt hosts the fifth annual Biblesta Parade with 39 units led by Jed Woods and Ralph Wade. Floats from Humboldt Erie Chanute and Burlington join bands Scouts and an Army color guard. A North Carolina brood mare revived after being near death inspired Roscoe Gallop to donate all proceeds from her colt sales to the Assemblies of God. Since 1960 the mare’s offspring have raised 100 for missionaries in Africa 125 for Jewish missions and 75 for workers in South India.

Crash Near Erie Destroys 1954 Chev Near US 59 South

A one vehicle crash south of Erie damaged a 1954 Chevrolet owned by Bobby Locke 32 of Erie with $75 damage. Locke was examined by an Erie doctor for possible injuries after losing control on a rain slick shoulder and pulling back onto the road.

Bogus Check Suspect Held in Montgomery County

Wilbur Eugene McCullough 38 is in custody after a Saturday traffic stop in the region between Independence and Caney. Authorities say he faces multiple check fraud charges across Montgomery Allen Shawnee and Neosho counties and is accused of passing a $36 forged check at Donaldson Food Store on Sept 20. The Montgomery county case is listed with prosecution priority.

Collision injures two on K47 southwest of here

A collision on highway K47 about 10 AM damaged a 1960 International three quarter ton truck driven by Ralph Wheeler of Erie and a 1962 Chevrolet car driven by John Stephens of Chanute. Passenger Charles Blescent of Pittsburg was treated for a laceration and released. Wheeler reported back discomfort and may seek medical advice.
