In Atlanta Georgia the AP reports that bra sales are not declining. Store managers and sales staff insist demand remains strong with both departments stressing support and guidance for young shoppers to prevent potential problems later in life.
Concorde flew supersonically over Toulouse France for nine minutes in the first sound barrier crossing. Pilot Andre Turcat praised the jet's stability and noted a Mach 1.05 speed of 714 miles per hour.
Secretary of State Rogers and Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko finished meetings in New York and agreed to continue discussions on a Middle East settlement. Assistant Secretary Sisco will push the talks with Dobrynin in Washington with hopes to have groundwork ready by late October for a Big Four plus United States plan.
The three Washington D C newspapers ceased operation as pressmen went on strike after rejecting new contract offers. Negotiations stalled after old contracts expired at midnight Tuesday and resumed briefly before breaking off again in the morning until 2 30 p m today.
The Capitol Area Planning Commission voted 4-2 to approve architect contracts for the $47 million Capitol Plaza project, pending review by Atty. Gen. Kent Frizzell and action by the Kansas Finance Council. Opponents Rep. Carl Ossmann and Sen. Reynolds Shultz argue the contracts exceed statutory authority and fees are excessive. The project will house more state offices near the statehouse.
The Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on President Nixon's nomination of Judge Clement F. Haynsworth to the Supreme Court until next week at earliest. Senator Birch Bayh accused grounds review delays and said the session arose after a heated exchange.
Alaska Governor Keith Miller backs the Amchitka Island test as safe despite protests from Canadian students and international critics. Japan, Canada, and several U.S. lawmakers urge halting the one megaton underground blast amid seismically active conditions and radiation concerns.

At Travis Air Force Base California Col Robert B Rheault denied knowledge of the alleged dead man and said there was no evidence the victim was slain or connected to President Thieu. Army dropped murder charges and Rheault and six others left for 30 day leaves.

Paschal Grimes retired Tuesday and left for New Jersey. Floyd Heath of Iola was to begin today but is tied up in Allen County, leaving Ralph Caldwell to supervise in the engineer's office. Heath may stay in Iola up to a month while Jack Brennan, acting city manager, says part timers are staking streets for paving. Heath hopes for occasional city visits until permanent takeover.
