Santa Arrives for Main Street Parade and Store Visits
Santa Claus will arrive at 10 a.m. tomorrow and appear in a Main Street parade before visiting stores in the business district to hand out candy gifts to children. With school bands disbanded for the holidays, parade music will come from a soundtrack, announced by the Chamber of Commerce. Holiday street lights will be turned on Saturday evening.

Contract Due For Midway In January
The Midway consolidated school project southeast of Buffalo will be let after the new year. Superintendent Don Marple said plans by Stiger and Carnes of Hutchinson are nearly ready. A $357,000 bond issue funds the project, ground and equipment. A 20 acre site near US 75 K39 was purchased for the elementary high school, and Midway district formed last summer with classes in Buffalo and Vilas. Four new school buses are in operation, three in Buffalo and one in Vilas.

Chanute considers water rate hike to curb use
