Lyle and Mrs. Doberer near Clay Center keep 16 buffalo as a hobby herd. One bull will be killed at the farm to avoid stampedes and meat sold via Clay Center Locker at 80 cents per pound for half, 75 for front quarters, 85 for hind quarters, with processing extra. Iron Mueller of Mueller Grain donated a $1,000 certificate of deposit for use in 2076 to the Sherman County Bicentennial Committee in appreciation of local friends and customers. With interest at 7.75 percent, the deposit could yield about $2.3 million by the tricentennial.

Major storm pushes into Kansas and along Plains
A large winter storm slowed Thanksgiving travel from the Rockies to the Plains. Lead South Dakota and surrounding western hills saw up to 24 inches of snow while Wyoming reported extensive highway closures and blizzard conditions. An 89 year old man died in Montana road crash during the storm.

Rush County La Crosse to get new FAA funded airport
A $297,000 FAA grant will fund land purchase and construction for a new airport about a mile east of La Crosse, Rush County. The project, part of nearly $700,000 in Kansas airport funds through 1977, aims for a 3,200 foot paved runway and hangar space, with bids due mid next month and completion by late 1977.

Retail sales show decline in September commerce report
The Commerce Department says total retail sales fell 1 percent in September to 53.9 billion dollars. Excluding autos, September sales were nearly unchanged from August, while durable goods dropped 5 percent month over month and rose 12 percent from September 1975. The quarterly figures show July to September sales 1 percent above the March-June quarter and 9 percent above a year earlier.
