Charge Dismissed In Trooper Death
A negligent homicide charge against Herschel Buxton of El Dorado was dismissed by District Judge W N Calkins. The case stemmed from the Oct 6 collision that killed highway patrolman Jim Jacobs as he rode to a Eureka hospital with blood for a patient. The judge ruled the state failed to prove the patrol car was operating as an emergency vehicle.

Humboldt notes open house at the new Zillah consolidated school five miles northeast of here on Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. A dedication ceremony begins at 2 pm. The school opened in September 1959 for the 1959 60 term and now features an all concrete tornado resistant gymnasium. It houses grades one through eight with a special education class and an enrollment of 111. Refreshments will be served by the school board.
