A 11,865 acre federal land auction in Boardman Oregon drew about 500 spectators. Oscar Peterson paid 40,200 for 640 acres, outbidding Fred Andrews who bought 1,796 acres total for 83,000. Rex Ellis bought 1,159 acres for 48,000 while eight major tracts were not sold.

He cited comments by U S Atty Newell George at a Wichita crime conference suggesting legalization of liquor by the drink and cited alleged club law violations. Hollomon asked for a disputation if the charges are untrue and tied enforcement to the governors office through the Alcohol Beverage Control director.

Later at Elm and Lincoln Alma M Heer backed into a parked car owned by Guy Gardner causing front right and rear left fender damage.
A California couple faced news their son Spec. 5 John R. Adams was killed in action in Vietnam only to learn he was missing in action. The Army later identified another soldier as Adams, triggering a funeral mixup. Pfc. John W. Guinn, 23, a Tenn. native, was also reunited with his mother after being believed dead.
