A 2000 strong Viet Cong force pressed Tuy An in Phu Yen Province on the central coast, threatening five government posts. A relief unit was driven back after heavy fighting. Tuy An remained quiet as U S Navy ships and planes targeted attackers and air defenses Northwest of Hanoi.
SAN FRANCISCO AP A Merchant Marine officer Perry Chariton 39 of Oakland Calif plunged to his death Monday from the Golden Gate Bridge marking the 288th known victim.
A 1962 Chevrolet driven by Nina C Larson 34 of Savonburg R1 struck a Hereford calf northwest of Stark about 6:30 p m. Yesterday causing about 300 dollars damage. Larson and passenger Linda Collins 9 of Savonburg were uninjured. The calf owned by Jim McGee Stark R1 weighed about 400 pounds and was valued at 90 to 100 dollars. The accident occurred on a county road four miles west and a mile and a half north of Stark and was investigated by the sheriff.
The Federal Aviation Agency grants 2650 dollars to study proposed improvements at Philip Billard Municipal Airport in Topeka.

In Bastrop Louisiana 18 year old Douglas Emerich was booked for kidnapping after abducting 8 year old Nancy Keller Sunday. Nancy escaped from a vacant house and called her father. Emerich held in Monroe jail and may face aggravated kidnapping or simple kidnapping charges. Nancy identified a dirty gray car in the incident.
