Hutchinson Man Shot to Death In Downtown Shooting
Clifford Crawford aged 22 was shot to death on a downtown Hutchinson street Monday night. Leo Cherry 22 surrendered claiming self defense after a long afternoon quarrel. Cherry said Crawford struck him and Crawford lunged again prompting the shooting. Chief Spriggs stated the quarrel’s cause was not yet known.

Oakley Wishteyah, 35, serving a five year sentence for burglary and larceny in Shawnee County, walked away from the state prison dairy farm in Lansing Kansas. Warden Tracy Hand said Wishteyah had about 14 months to serve before parole eligibility. he was received at the prison in January 1959.

Retrial Scheduled In Ferina Case
The second trial of Felix Ferina a 34 year old police character is set for December 12 in circuit court. He is charged with assault with intent to kill in the ambush shooting of Kenneth Bruce Sheetz a 39 year old government narcotics case witness. John Cardarella will be tried January 3 on the same charge. Four bullets wounded Sheetz at his home in June after he testified in March before a federal grand jury in Omaha that indicted Anthony Biase on narcotics charges. Ferina Cardarella Biase and Carlton Young are under federal indictment on a conspiracy to kill Sheetz.
