Neosho 4-H Banquet Honors 450 at Seventh Achievement Event

The seventh annual Neosho County 4-H achievement banquet honored 450 members and leaders at Erie high school. Winners of Kan gas Who's Who 4-H Club Key awards included Nancy Bartholomew Mary Lee John Don Meyer and Don Madill. County Key Banker Mahlon Morley opened remarks. The evening featured a Katherine Bradshaw dance Jene Hudson piano Nora Shipman Nancy Green vocal duet Alice Green and Beverly Erickson accordion. Numerous county 4-H awards were presented across project areas with many members honored for achievements in entomology, crops, beef, dairy, home economics and more.

State Traffic Fatal to Nine On Weekend

Nine people died in Kansas traffic accidents over the weekend. Fatal crashes occurred near Paola Independence and Belleville, with multiple victims from Greeley Spring Hill and Osa watomie. Officers reported rain and light snow affecting road conditions and noted a driver charged with leaving the scene.

Accidents With Guns Fatal to Two Boys

Two boys die in separate Sunday shooting accidents. Stephen Marshall 17 Prairie Village Kansas shot in head by 45.70 caliber rifle in Fernandez collection. Fernandez 18 said he did not know rifle was loaded. Darril Medlock 10 Kansas City shot in head by .22 rifle held by Dale Medlock 12 while resting in a car near Lee's Summit Missouri during a rabbit hunt.

No New Information On Missing Girl

Police and relatives of 15 year old Terry Ann Phelps reported no new information on her whereabouts today. She has been missing since leaving her home last Tuesday and is believed to be with a companion. An unverified report said they were seen hitchhiking at the town edge on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Two Children Drown in Farm Pond Near Victoria

In Victoria Kansas two children Darlene Braun eight and Donald Braun six broke through thin ice while playing at a farm pond Sunday. Their bodies were recovered from five feet of water. They were the children of Mr and Mrs Peter J Braun.

Christmas Club Checks Total $145,108

Christmas Club checks totaling 145 108 have been mailed by the Bank of Commerce and First National Bank in Chanute to about 1 100 savers to stimulate local shopping. The 1962 program starts today with a smaller total than last year and 1959 levels.

Buck Deer Found Dead in Highland Park Lake

A city deer in Highland Park’s quarry pond apparently drowned with no injuries found on the body. Break-in Try At Thayer Lumber Yard
