Youth Bravely Tries to Save Companion in Blizzard
In Arizona near Williams a 17 year old attempted to rescue his companion during a fierce snowstorm but found him frozen to death. The youth Michael McBride was hospitalized with frostbite after guiding rescuers to Abram William Clark 51 of Bell Gardens California. A search was planned for Clark’s wife Nellie 54 and the youth’s father George Mc Bride of Jerome. The four were in Tule Canyon south of Williams packing for a spring rock hunt when conditions worsened and a truck stalled. The boy and Clark walked ten miles, built a fire, and slept as the storm intensified. The youth then sought aid, leading rescuers to Clark who was dead. snow reached 14 inches in the area. The elder McBride and Mrs Clark did not reach the ranch. The storm buried the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix.

Truck wreck west of Chanute causes $10000 damage
A 1961 Mack tractor and trailer loaded with oranges left highway K39 about five miles west of Chanute in Wilson county around 8 p m Sunday. The driver Dean Duncan 29 of Johnson Ark and companion Gary Goostree 21 of Comfort Mo were uninjured. The load sustained little damage and the truck swerved to avoid a turning pickup.

Slick rain sparks a string of noninjury crashes in town
Yesterday's rain caused slick streets and poor visibility leading to multiple noninjury collisions. At Walnut and Steuben a 1959 Mercury and a 1963 Chevrolet II station wagon were damaged.
