Man Killed in Crash Near Humboldt

Harvey D. Koon, 39, of 1112 Cherokee Humboldt, died at 12 30 a m when his 1963 Ford left US 169 one mile south of Humboldt, overturned and struck him after being thrown from the car. The vehicle was a total loss and his body was taken to Price Funeral Home in Humboldt for transfer to Little Rock Arkansas.

Recreation Post Filled Al Guist Named Superintendent

Al Guist 30 of Kingman has been hired as superintendent of the Chanute Area Recreation Commission. He will start December 1, filling the vacancy created by Martin Rotunno’s May resignation. Guist was athletic director and head coach at Hamilton Rural High School 1963 to 1965 and has led the Kingman Recreation Commission since 1965. He is married with three children.

City Utility Tax Exempt Says Kansas Opinion

Atty. Gen. Kent Frizzell declared municipal utilities serving city residents cannot be taxed under the Kansas Constitution.
