McVey Assails Foreign Aid and Peace Corps Talk

Gas from a broken reznor connection sparked a small fire at 1501 S Malcolm shortly before 10. Damage described as not extensive. Fire fighters reported foam from a box of washing powder fed by water created a bubble bath effect around the scene.

Two Youths Held Over Forbes Chanute Car Thefts

Police report two Forbes Air Force Base youths held at Pryor Oklahoma in connection with weekend car thefts near Forbes and Chanute. James Perkins 18 and Frank Edward Fritts 17 admitted thefts to an FBI agent. a 1947 Chevrolet and a 1952 Nash were involved. The Nash was recovered at Pryor.

Topeka AP reports Kansas traffic death log numbers for the 24 hours ending 9 a.m. Tuesday. The November total stands at 24 deaths, with a 1961 year-to-date of 458 fatalities. The comparable 1960 period recorded 432 deaths.

Gas Rate Schedules To Be Hiked Five Cents

Brush Blaze Destroys 10 Kagel Canyon Homes North of LA

Firefighters contained a 2300 acre brush blaze 20 miles north of downtown Los Angeles destroying 10 Kagel Canyon homes. More than 300 residents evacuated returned as winds eased and crews reduced to 600. Officials aimed for full control by nightfall. Homes ranged in value from 10 000 to 15 000 dollars.

Richard Linsey, a roustabout described as craving women and cars, was executed today in the California gas chamber for raping and killing a 16 year old girl with help from his sixth wife who was pregnant.

One man died and another was seriously injured when a pickup and car collided on a county road east of Montezuma Kansas. Dead on arrival at a Dodge City hospital was 43 year old Donald Whitaker of Cimarron.
