Prime Minister Harold Wilson told Parliament that the queen is running into red finances. A committee will be formed to consider a raise as the annual state income and crown properties support fall short. The queen receives 1.14 million dollars from the state and 480 thousand from crown property.
In Manhattan three skyscrapers were struck by bombs early today injuring one man lightly and causing limited damage. A six hour later unsigned letter claimed responsibility citing antiwar protest and blasted "giant corporations of America" including Chese Manhattan, Standard Oil, and General Motors. Police investigate.
Five state agencies appealed budget reductions totaling more than 4 million for fiscal 1971 at hearings. They sought 9.07 million while Budget Director James Bibb recommended 5.04 million, below 1969 spending of 4.39 million. The Board of Agriculture, State Library, Kansas State Fair, Animal Health Board, and Water Resources Board all saw requested funds trimmed in Bibb's outline.
Washington march against death protest prompts Army warning that servicemen in uniform will be arrested and turned over to commanders for possible court martial. Pentagon mobilizes several thousand troops outside the capital for potential duty amid possible violence. Violations carry up to two years hard labor and a dishonorable discharge.
An explosion and fire at a Hanover mass munitions plant released tear gas from canisters. Firefighters were overcome by the gas and ambulances rushed to the scene. Residents near the facility were evacuated as flames shot 75 to 100 feet high.
Iola police report the town’s third fatal shooting in six weeks as Dora Mae Brooks, 25, of Chanute, is held in the Allen County jail on first degree murder charges.

Cha nute city commission approved an 80 000 loan application and cooperation agreement with the housing authority to pursue 200 units of elderly and low income housing. HUD review pending after five months of authority work. Also approved traffic and paving actions and Chamber Bell Ringer Day proclamation.
City commissioners decide who places traffic control signs and retain a temporary crosswalk guard at West Cherry and Forest while awaiting state highway study. They direct painting of the Cherry Street crosswalk and consider adding a six foot high School Crossing message. Also proclaimed Chamber Bell Ringing Day and approved sewer and paving resolutions with a temporary note issued for paving work.
A note from old veterans speaks to the constant cycle of parades. City clerk Bonnie Moffatt and housing officials including Ralph Caldwell are named among attendees. Visitors listed include Dale McCoy A F VanAlstyne Mrs Floyd Thuston Dr J C Sanders and Pete Disney. PTA representatives McCune Ray Almond Harold Barnhart and others also appear.
A large Veterans Day parade moved west on Main Street at 11 a.m. with patriotic floats, bands from Moran-Elsmore High, Midway High Buffalo, Altoona Junior High, and Chanute schools, plus drum and bugle corps.
