Bus and car crash near Templeton claims nine lives
A head on collision near Templeton Quebec killed nine people and injured at least ten. The station wagon penetrated five feet into the bus. Bus driver Paul Poirier, 30, and three of his 17 passengers died. The station wagon occupants included Roland Lavigne, 29, and Emile Lavigne, 21, plus two Ottawa men and one unidentified person. Police withheld passenger names.

Traffic Crashes Investigated Weekend Wrecks Prompt Police Probes
Police investigated two non injuring traffic accidents over the weekend. At Santa Fe near 14th a 1956 Pontiac driven by Carl Haviland and a 1950 Ford driven by Willard Hasty sustained minor damage estimated at 75 and 50 dollars respectively. Another collision at Main and Evergreen involved a 1956 Ford driven by Gerald Brinkman and a 1950 Ford listed as owned by Allen Shipley. damage was about 100 dollars on Brinkman and 50 on Shipley. Additional incidents included a braking failure crash at 9 E Main by Edward Overall Parsons, a minor backed collision between Velma McLaren and Patricia Trent, and several parked-car nicks on East Walnut.

Three Persons Killed In Kansas Traffic
Three people died in Kansas traffic accidents over the weekend. Joseph F. Losson 38 and Ralph Bruns 58 of Troy were killed Saturday when their pickup crashed into a standing asphalt truck at a railroad crossing near Wathena. Clarence H. Rose 58 of Wellsville was killed Friday night in a two car crash on U S 56 nine miles west of Baldwin.

James Leroy Wounded In Gun Accident
James Leroy, 26, of 2092 East Main, was accidentally shot at 7:50 p.m. yesterday while hammering a bent key in a shop at his father Lester Leroy’s home at 615 West Ash. The .22 rifle fell and discharged, wounding him in the left side but not penetrating the abdominal wall. he was treated at Neosho Memorial Hospital and released after bullet removal.

Crossing Crash Injuries Minor Near Chanute
The Rev. Floyd Thuston 38 and his wife Roberta 34 and six children escaped with only minor injuries when their 1960 Rambler Station wagon collided with a Katy freight engine at a Shaw road crossing about 1% miles east of US 169. They were taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital for examination and released. The train engine was en route to Chanute and engineer W. E. Simes of Parsons reported the collision occurred after the driver failed to see the train in time.

Salina Officer Kills Yegg at VFW Club Shootout
Salina Kansas police shot and killed Roy Virgil Doerfler a Wichita ex convict suspected as a safe burglar during a morning attempt at the Veterans of Foreign Wars club.
