Mrs Stella Browning of 202 N Garfield told The Tribune she saw a white deer on the levee east of the Neosho River bridge at Austin. The animal crossed the road before disappearing, marking a rare local sighting amid Missouri deer season. She noted no duck bagging, only rain soaked grass.
Winners of more than 500 dollars in cash and merchandise from Chanute merchants were posted in store windows after a Christmas preview. Epworth Hospital will receive a $15,850 refund from the municipal water department after a six year meter misreading. A 1951 line addition and a dual-meter setup caused inflated readings. after audits and leak repairs, city officials approved the refund following routine error findings by City Manager Willis Pittser.
Rev E K Resler aged 66 former Methodist pastor at Whiting Kansas died yesterday. He served as Kansas Methodist Conference treasurer for 12 years and held multiple pastorates. Survivors include his widow, a son and three daughters. Completion of the new National Guard armory south of town on US 169 is expected in about a week or 10 days with final inspection by the state architect possible next week. The Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary will conduct annual buddy poppy sales Friday and Saturday. Poppies are crafted by disabled veterans and proceeds aid disabled and needy veterans and support the VFW home for veterans widows and orphans in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
More than 2,200 teachers gathered in Pittsburg for the Kansas State Teachers Assn southeast sectional two day meeting. The delegate assembly elected Blanch Smith of Pittsburg as vice president and named Carl Nelson Independence Filmer Wells Sedan William Davidson Moline R G Smith Pittsburg and G C Goble Pittsburg to the state delegate assembly. The group also approved reassigning Bourbon County to district three and Cowley County to district four.

Parents may attend classes to see teaching methods. committees include Athaleen Dahlstrom Elizabeth Pieper and Hazel Russell. Wayne Clifford Seely a 38 year old farmer from northeast of Mound Valley died in Parsons hospital in the morning Craig Standridge 13 son of Mr and Mrs James Standridge Jr Parsons died late yesterday. These are the first deaths in Parsons during the current respiratory outbreak.

Trent on reports say 45 year old farmer Gilbert McCulley of Spickard Mo severed his left arm with a pocket knife after it was caught in a cornpicker on his farm. He freed himself after about 30 minutes then drove his tractor home. He was taken to a hospital in Trenton and listed in fair condition.
