Washington AP House investigators recessed their probe of TV quiz show scandals with plans to broaden the inquiry to other television phases including interviews and advertising. Rep. Oren Harris says evidence challenges the morality of the entire industry. The panel will reconvene December 9 to decide future steps. CBS president Frank Stanton testified he acted promptly after learning of irregularities and that legislation is not a cure all, deferring to industry self reform.

A 17 year old Junction City High senior Richard Wayne Hill was fatally wounded in a duck hunting accident near Miltonvale Kansas. He died at a Concordia hospital after being shot in the back of the head while hunting with three schoolmates. The shooting occurred as Hill fired then jumped up and another hunter about six feet behind him fired. He was the son of Ste and Mrs Marvin Hill of Fort Riley. His burial will follow services in Union Nebraska.
Kansas City AP reports Donald P Daulton 30 of Paola Kansas died after his car collided with a truck south of Kansas City The truck driver Charles Goodman of Los Angeles was uninjured Daulton left behind four children and was employed at a Belton Missouri steel firm
Mrs. James W. Mishler of McCune reported a 1955 Ford slid on a slick spot and struck the east river bridge on highway K39 yesterday morning. Damage to the right side was estimated at 42 dollars.
At the Kansas City livestock market weekly stocker and feeder sale 7 151 head of cattle sold for 1 167 000 dollars. The average price was 24 58 per hundredweight, 62 cents below last week. Average weight stood at 664 pounds, six pounds lighter than the prior week.
N F English Construction Co of Hutchinson to build a new Chanute Building and Loan Assn office at Lincoln and Walnut. Work to begin in 10 days to two weeks with a 250 day completion window. The single story 86 by 62 foot structure includes rental space, three entrances, three parking areas for 24 cars, and a basement meeting room for tenants and civic groups. Plans by Kiene and Bradley of Topeka.
In Kansas City G L Little used a power saw to cut a hole through a floor and reach his trapped employee Glen Schwermer during a basement fire. Schwermer had dropped a five gallon can of lacquer thinner and escaped the flames with help from Little who retrieved the saw from his car. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
The Kansas Seed Dealers Assn will sponsor a second series of seed and soil clinics open to the public. Meetings run from January 19 in Lawrence to January 27 in Garden City with chairmen listed for each site. Extension pathologists agronomists and county agents will assist.

Kansas City AP report says Charles LeRoy Wilson, 31, was sentenced to 10 years for the slaying of John T. Anders, 37, whose weighted body was found in the Missouri River. Wilson claimed no intent to shoot. Shelton and Lucas, aged 45 and 56, face charges as accessories after the fact.
A Navy TV2 jet training plane failed during takeoff from McChord Air Force Base and crashed into a base parking lot, killing three men: Marine Lt Col Charles E. Kollman 39 and Lt Col John Skorich 41 from Continental Air Defense Command and John H. Lundeen 28 a Seattle truck driver. The two officers were en route from McChord to Colorado Springs.
