Carter Accepts Ford Offer to Aid Transition

Carter welcomed Ford's gracious concession and agreed to his offer of transition aid and post inauguration support. Carter said staffs were starting transition arrangements in Plains Georgia as the two leaders spoke after a close 297 to 241 electoral vote result and a record popular vote count.
