Storm injures Chanute resident as tree limb pierces window
Marvin Wolfe, two miles north of Chanute, suffered a right eye injury when a six inch diameter limb crashed through a kitchen window during the Friday night storm. His family escaped serious harm with minor cuts from glass. Connie Wolfe slept through it. The storm damaged trees and shattered another window. A limb lodged in the house wall and the Neocha Drive-in screen nearby toppled. The storm also moved tools and a tube testing vat at Wayne's Service station.

Four Freed U S Fliers Home After Release by China
Four American fighter pilots freed from Chinese detention arrived in Hong Kong and soon left for Hawaii with relatives to reunite with families. The men, shot down in the Korean War, appeared tired but composed and said they were well treated. Names: Capt Harold Fischer Jr, 28. 1st Lt Lyle Cameron. Lt Col Edwin Heller, 36. 1st Lt Roland Parks, 24. They crossed into British Hong Kong at Shunchun and were transported to the airport for the flight to Hawaii.
