Blue Comet basketball clinic planned with Lawrence High

An invitation has been accepted for next season's Blue Comet basketball team to participate in a clinic with Lawrence High School on December 10. The event includes demonstrations in the afternoon and a game that night between the Comets and Lawrence High. A preliminary for remaining teams is also planned.

Three Youths Die In Water Electrocuted By Live Line

KANSAS CITY three young men died last night after stepping from a stalled car into six inches of water charged by a 2300 volt line. Bodies found outside the vehicle. shoes left behind. Victims identified as James Fraher and George A Beck both of Independence Missouri and Emil J Dosta of Kansas City aged 17. Police said rain backed sewer water flooded a residential street where the power line fell.

Fran Bera to Visit Chanute for Women’s Air Race

Top aviatrix Fran Bera will visit Chanute next Friday and Saturday. She signs a five year contract with AeroDuct Inc. and will race in the International Air Race from Washington to Havana starting June 1. She plans receptions, talks with Gov. Fred Hall, and visits to AeroDuct.

Dying Driver Found In Car Out Of Control

Los Angeles motorist Hubert L. Weiss, 72, collapsed behind the wheel of an out of control car on West Adams Boulevard. Garageman Jack Fradkin, 34, chased the car, stopped it, turned off the ignition, and pulled Weiss from the vehicle as police arrived. Weiss appeared to have suffered a heart attack.

Purses Missing Money Ties to Chanute Shop Thefts

Police report a dark-eyed brunette 20 to 25 used shopper ruse at three Chanute stores this week. Purses of female employees vanished after she examined items at Skinney Electric Service Tots and Teens and the Kiddy Korner. A West Main dress shop visitor also left an empty purse. a requested roller skate inquiry ended with a found purse belonging to Mrs Wilson.

Walnut Road Right of Way To Be Wider

Neosho County commissioners announced plans to condemn land for an eight mile widening of Walnut road from U S 59 north of Erie to the Crawford county line. The state highway system will take over the road, assign a state number, and oversee improvements to handle growing truck traffic.

Lack of Funds Delays Boost in County Pay

Neosho County will postpone a five percent pay increase for elected officers until 1956 due to a strained general fund and budget constraints. Three runners break four minute mile in British event

LONDON P Laszlo Tabori and Chris Chataway and Brian Hewson all ran the mile in under four minutes at White City Stadium in an international invitation race. Tabori won in 3 59 while Chataway and Hewson clocked 3 59 8. The crowd reached 25 000 on a damp day as the feat marked the first time three men did so in one race.

Wind damaged drive in theater and town during Neosho Falls storm

A Neosho Falls KS wind storm caused wide damage across the Neosho Allen Wilson county area with a 60 by 30 foot drive in screen toppled at the Neocho theater. No injuries were reported as power lines fell and television aerials were blown down. Cars remained in the parking area as staff evacuated safely.

Tornadoes Struck Three States With Heavy Damage and Scarred Udall

Tornado activity across Kansas Missouri and Oklahoma left at least 114 dead and hundreds injured in four states. Udall suffered mass destruction with 73 dead and 200 injured, triggering emergency housing and relief efforts led by the Red Cross and National Guard.
