Credit card scam ends with arrest in Indianapolis

A man used a card bearing the name Loral R. Tansey to buy 73 dollars worth of clothes at a store where Tansey’s brother Albert worked. The customer was not Loral. Police arrested Robert N. Anderson, 25, of Indianapolis on a charge of illegal credit card use.

Sun shines for strong farm year across four counties

Agriculture agents say prolonged sun and farm work push seedings toward a good production year in four counties. Wet falls and winters trimmed wheat acreage, rerouting to sorghum and soybeans while hay yields were strong but uneven. Seeding of sorghums and soybeans continues. overall crops may shift away from wheat and corn as weather stabilizes.

Nixon outlines plan to reform Post Office into independent service

President Nixon asked Congress to convert the Post Office Department into a government owned self sustaining service outside the Cabinet. The proposal, influenced by Frederick Kappel, creates a nine member board to govern an independent postal service, expands union rights, uses bond financing for capital projects, and sets up a commission on mail rates and classifications subject to board review. Postmaster Blount briefed reporters at the White House on the plan.

The Weather Bureau says Kansas will remain unusually warm through Wednesday with clear to partly cloudy skies. Lows tonight around 63 to 68 and highs Wednesday from 89 to 94 degrees.

Housing Authority Selections Made In City

Names of four of the five members for the new housing authority were announced at the city commission meeting. Dr Reuben J Burkman announced the appointment of A F VanAlstyne Dale McCoy manager of KCRB Mrs Floyd Thuston and Dr J C Sanders. Thuston will serve three years McCoy four VanAlstyne term details incomplete.
