Relocation Bids Due June 9 for US 5 and K39 Projects
Bids for relocation work on US 75 and K39 tied to the Wilson County State Lake will be received in Independence on June 9. The US 75 relocation runs 4.7 miles east of Buffalo with a 42 foot roadbed and a three span bridge over Buffalo Creek. The K39 relocation runs 3.8 miles from Roper parallel to the Missouri Pacific Railroad with a 32 foot roadbed and one bridge over Woodruff Creek. Earth dam construction for the lake will require moving large volumes of dirt and rock. a separate contract for miscellaneous lake work has been let to a Neodesha firm. Previous bids from May 12 were rejected as too high.
