Helipad Overnight Visitor At Chanute Motel
Bruce Schlitz of Houston landed a helicopter at Chanute Municipal Airport and set it down in front of the La Rose Motel overnight on Saturday. The craft stayed until about 5 30 Sunday morning attracting curious passersby and surprising the Chestnut couple, motel owners, who learned of the visit only as they drove by. Schlitz said Chanute would be a regular stop in the future.

Bud Morgan Dies In Tulsa Stock Car Crash
Bud Morgan 34 of Chanute died after a stock car crash at Tulsa Fairgrounds. The welder and racer was thrown from his car when it jumped a 27 foot fence, after moving from 18th to near third in the 12 lap B feature. He died seconds after hospital admission. survivors include his wife Lucile, two children, and his parents. Funeral at Evangelical United Brethren church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
