Mrs. Bennett handled nearly every detail, including moving day, while she was in the hospital for an operation. Meanwhile three Chanute teens were questioned by police after a complaint of taunting a man on Main Street. the driver, 18, and two 15-year-olds, were identified from a license plate and released with a warning.

Burglars Hit Two Erie Car Agencies in Early Morning
Thieves broke into the A. L. Ricketts and Gus Demler agencies on North Main, stole about $100 in cash and $350 to $400 in car parts. Entry was via broken windows, targets included a punched safe at Ricketts. Sheriff Sloan placed the break in between 2 and 5 am. Three checks were also missing.

Dial Buildings Planned for Area Towns
The Northern Kansas Telephone Co of Ottawa won a contract with Heckathorn Brothers Construction Co of Winfield to build dial office buildings in Thayer Altoona Benedict Buffalo Piqua Coyville Neosho Falls Fall River and Lafontaine. Construction may start in two to three weeks with concrete block brick faced offices on company property as the Freddonia exchange converts to dial operation later this fall. Exact conversion dates await further contracts.

Semi-Trailer Truck Crash Near Erie injures none
