John Byers and Fred Roles of Chanute were arrested Friday on grand larceny charges for stealing scrap iron from the Santa Fe railroad yards. They were released Saturday on $1,000 bonds each. A preliminary hearing is set for 3 p.m. tomorrow in city court. L. M. Dannenberg of 1201 N. Garfield signed a statement that he bought 12,582 pounds of scrap from them in good faith.

Driver Arrested After Alcohol Charge

KU Student Killed In Turnpike Crash

Soldier dies in crash near Belvue on U.S. 24
Five soldiers in a car were involved in a Saturday night collision on U S 24 near Belvue Kansas. Pvt Ronald R Bety 19 of Billings Montana was killed. Two others in a second car were injured William Agnew and his wife of San Mateo California were hurt. All soldiers were from Ft Riley.
Final Concert Is Wednesday at Senior High
