Albert Kogler, 19, died after a shark struck him while he and Shirley O’Neill, both San Francisco State College students, swam near Baker Beach. O’Neill urged him to lie back as rescuing efforts continued, but Kogler died about a day after the attack.

Shooting Fatal To Kansas Youth
Richard Clair Evans an 18 year old Wichita freshman at the University of Colorado was shot to death in Boulder by a .22 caliber automatic revolver. Police hold Thomas Donald Wright 19 of East Peoria Ill a university sophomore. The shooting appears accidental but Wright declined to discuss it. No charges have been filed.

New CTA Officers Named At Chanute Meeting
The Chanute Teachers Association held its final meeting of the year at Alcott school. Martha Hutton was named CTA president for 1959 60 with Freda Betts as vice president Susan Graham secretary Dorothy Hibbs treasurer and Cresent Owens historian.
