Savonburg group of 14 hunters plus five more from Chanute collected 12 rattlesnakes after a hunt near Okeene Oklahoma. The largest snake measured 52 inches with 10 rattles and weighed 72 pounds dressed. The party planned a rattlesnake meal with beans and potato salad, and some meat was sent to Pittsburg State College for biology study.

J C Penney Phillipsburg Cleaners West Tavern Rumbaugh electric store Pauls pool hall Harbaugh drug store and McQueen jewelry store were affected. Jewelry store owner Dick McQueen said thieves took diamonds and watches valued at 10 000 to 15 000 and 450 in cash. the safe was opened and at the electric store 100 pennies were taken.

Joint Funeral Service For Four Walnut Girls
A joint funeral was held in Walnut Kansas for four teenage girls killed in a Sunday highway crash. Marilyn McClung and Ruth Carroll, both 18, and their sisters Kathleen and Carla McClung, ages 15, were residents of Walnut. About 1,000 people filled St. Patrick's High School auditorium for the services. Four members of a Wichita family were injured in the crash that caused the deaths.
