A three state delegation urged Congress to approve President Johnsons recommendation for 155 million dollars to continue work on the Arkansas River development project in 1964.
Five persons died in Kansas traffic accidents during the weekend. Victims include Gary L. Engel, 18, of near Norton, and Gilbert G. Turner, 23, of Kansas City, Kansas, plus three more deaths near Wichita, Girard, and Larned.
Temperatures today show a high around 59 and a low near 45 with yesterday at 81 and 50. Area forecast calls for generally fair conditions through Tuesday with a cooler tonight and a slight warm trend Tuesday. Low tonight 35 to 40, highs Tuesday in the 60s. From Topeka AP: Below freezing in western Kansas, unseasonably cool nights, gusty southerly winds ahead of a cool front, then strong northwest winds behind it. Total April precipitation 3.20 inches.
Erie Neosho county commissioners act as the board of tax equalization to hear property owners objections on valuations. The annual period runs through May with sessions on days the commission meets. The boy regaining breathing and memories while his family awaited further notice.

Beverly Willcott a 17 year old resident of 1220 West 2nd was struck while crossing Highland between Main and Elm around 10 15 p m Saturday and rushed to Neo sho Memorial Hospital. She sustained no bone fractures and left hospital walking with crutches after a night under observation. The car was driven by 19 year old Charles Boaz of 602 South Lincoln.
Michael R. Neer and Marjorie Wilson were involved in a Saturday afternoon crash at Main and Central. Neer, 20, Ottawa, was cited for failing to observe a stop sign after colliding with a westbound Wilson, 33, of 430 S Malcolm. Damages were $125 to a Youngberg 1959 Chevrolet and $200 to Wilson's 1965 Chevrolet. Neer posted a $10 bond.
