Bogus Check Cashed At Evans Music Co

A counterfeit check drawn on Bank of Bronson for 31.65 payable to Howard T. Keith and signed Al M. Corradi was cashed at Evans Music Co. 8 East Main. A check protector masked the amount, and police learned similar fake checks circulated in Iola Yates Center Humboldt Wamego Burlingame Osage City Manhattan and St Marys. The passer bought a record at Evans and took the change.

Kansas to observe Daylight Saving Time Sunday statewide

In Kansas the Department of Transportation clarified that all counties will switch to Daylight Saving Time this Sunday. Most central Kansas areas join Central Daylight Saving Time while western counties in Mountain Time switch accordingly. Two Youths Hurt In One Car Crash At Santa Fe Park

Two youths injured in a single car crash near Santa Fe Park at 12 30 a m were identified as James A Benson of Kansas City and Frank Dexter Jr of 703 N Steuben. Dexter had head cuts and Benson a nose injury. They were taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital. The 1955 Chevrolet belonged to Dexter’s father and was driven by Benson.

Two Chanute Boys Held Over Liquor Store Break-In

Chanute youths aged 16 and 17 are held in the Erie county jail awaiting juvenile court after an early morning burglary at Kenneth Chestnut liquor store 1112 North Santa Fe. Ed Warner’s patrol unit chased the suspects. a car fled but its license number was obtained. Police say one boy is linked to an April 8 break-in and liquor theft. the other is believed to have been present then. Entry was via a south side plate glass window.

Farm Price Index Dips In Kansas April Report

The Kansas farm price index stood at 232 on April 15, down eight points from March and from last April. Wheat at 1.52 a bushel, beef cattle at 21.60 a hundredweight, grain sorghums at 1.93 a hundred, with mixed changes across crop and meat indices. Production of meat rose 9 percent in 1966 and commercial slaughter plants produced 1.2 billion pounds.
