Dean Schroeder 27 of Wichita died in a Dum as Texas car crash yesterday morning while en route to Odessa for Easter. His wife Carol Barker Schroeder and four year old Donnie were not seriously injured. Dean was husband to Mrs Barker’s granddaughter. The Schroeders had been married a year. Miner Held After Threat On Ike's Life
Sam Stepp of Inez Kentucky, a 35 year old mine caretaker, is jailed in Denver on a federal charge of threatening President Eisenhower. He reportedly warned the FBI that the President may be assassinated and allegedly said he would kill Ike if he got close, using a .30 30 rifle. Stepp was arrested in Glenwood Springs after a statewide alert and transferred to Denver. Conviction could bring up to five years in prison and a $1000 fine.
