Anchorage and coastal towns reel from Friday's quake with 21 dead and 83 missing. Civil Defense details show 55 injured and escalating toll if missing are dead, while Gov Egan cites 350 million dollars in damage across Alaska.
The Chanute Red Cross reports many inquiries from locals about relatives in the Anchorage area after a severe Alaska earthquake. Names were sent to Seattle for outreach, with no word yet. Some locals learned relatives were evacuated to California or located safely.
